Laboratory Research :

Variant Talas beneng ( Xanthasoma undipes ) or also known as Tall elephant ear is a typical local taro from Blitar district, East Java Province, it belong to the genus Xanthosoma and has been used as a source of local food. This study aims to determine the nutrient and oxalic acid content of wild taro leaves different altitude. It was 400 and 800 m above sea level (asl). The research was conducted from March to June 2017. Parameters observed in this study are Ă‚ proximate and oxalic acid analysis. Proximate analysis conducted in this study include analysis of water content, ash, protein, fat, and carbohydrates. The results showed that at 400 m asl taro bark had water content (92.24%), ash (0.30%), protein (0.30%), fat (0%), carbohydrate (7.16%) and oxalic acid (0.217%). On the other hand, at 800 m asl the taro bark has water content (92.38%), ash (0.74%), protein (0.21%), fat (0%), carbohydrate (6.67%) and oxalic acid (0.117%). Taro bark found at an 400 m asl contains higher concentration of protein, carbohydrates and oxalic acid than that of 800 m asl.
